A page on its way
This page is growing together with the trip planning. In August I will travel in this direction: Lanzhou, Xining, Golmud and further toward the edge of the vast highland world that makes western China feel so different from the big coastal cities.
After the trip, this page will become much more concrete: route, altitude, train experience, practical notes and the things that only become clear once you are actually there.
The name is intentionally broader than Lhasa alone. This page treats the Tibetan Plateau as a geographic and travel region, not as a simple tourist label for every place along the route.
